Magellan eXplorist 310 Waterproof Hiking GPS
I know what you are thinking. “everyone already has GPS on their phones. Why do the need a stand alone unit?” Well, most phones use what is called “Assisted GPS” The “assisted” part means the phone is actually getting your location by triangulating your coordinates from the cell towers. If you are out of range of the towers, you have a very unreliable GPS. (Ask anyone who has driven across Texas on Interstate 10).
This stand alone GPS unit will allow you to connect with satellites to find your location, and isn’t reliant on things like cell service, or the electrical grid to give you your location.
