Getting away to a place of safety during a cataclysmic event is sometimes a necessity – what can you load up and be gone in 10 minutes with and survive?
Now this is a bit of a puzzle till I sat down and thought about it.
What do you actually need? We need water, food, shelter and warmth.
Ok let’s get to it shall we?
Water – have a gallon jug in the trunk of the car all the time.
Food – I recommend a Valley Food Storage One Month Food, Water & Fire Supply (120 Servings) – $179
Warmth – Sleeping Bag – You have to stay warm and a good sleeping bag is another necessary item a great bag is: A comfortable and practical bedding arrangement is a good quality sleeping bag good to 5+F/-15C degrees Everest Mummy +5F/-15C Degree Sleeping Bag – (Amazon- $36)
Shelter – Your vehicle if you can recline the seats or a decent tent.
You have to stay dry and warm and a tent or tarp can provide that dry place to sleep. A small light weight tent can be bought inexpensively but I advise you to not skimp here and get a two person dome tent a quality tent under $100 is quite possible at any sporting goods store or if you’re a budget shopper an Ozark 2-person dome tent (Amazon – $40)
That’s about everything you need per person if you have to make a mad dash to safety.
